A Guide to Popular Wine Racks

Popular Wine Racks

Wine collecting and drinking is a hugely growing trend. In bygone years, wine appreciation used to be exclusively a man's hobby, but nowadays, women are actually overtaking men when it comes to an interest in all things wine.

Wine racks are popular because wine isn't just about the experience of imbibing the drink.

Wine bottles themselves are elegant and beautiful to look at, and the right wine rack can really add to the visual appreciation of your wine bottles as they await their opening day, whether in a cellar -- or on display in your kitchen or living room.

Wine racks come in all shapes and sizes, and are constructed of different material. In short, it simply comes down to what your preferences are.

There are elegant metal wine racks, whether custom or not, wooden ones -- and even sub variations of wood, such as pine, or cedar -- or you can purchase racks that are built to be placed in wine cellars if you are a more serious collector.

A classy looking wine rack, in short, will add a great deal of sophistication and pleasure to your wine drinking experience, not only for you and your family, but for your guests as well....who will undoubtedly conclude that you are a person with good tastes when they see the work of art that holds your wine.

Regardless if you're a serious collector of wine or just someone who enjoys the occassional bottle, you'll find a wine rack that appeals to you artistically, pragmatically, and financially.

Some hold just a few bottles while some hold many. Some are very inexpensive while some larger ones can be much pricier. Some were obviously made first and foremost for artistic flair, while others will suit more conservative personalities.

Wine racks can be placed prominently for display -- some small ones can be put right on your kitchen table -- or in your pantry. Larger ones can be stored in your wine cellar if you plan to start a long term collection.

The choice of what kind of wine rack you choose will depend upon not only such factors as your personal preferences, but the space you have available.

In summary, knowing your needs and desires will help you decide which kind of wine rack is right for you.

Fun With Scams: The Group Dining Email Scam

Wed, 17 Sep 2008 14:19:23 PDT
Yesterday, we shed some light on a Gucci blouse scam that's been circulating throughout the upscale restaurant circles, and today, we're pleased to share another ridiculous would-be scam. The ploy for this one is even more far-fetched than yesterday's: a person emails the restaurant with the desire to book the place for three consecutive group dinners (in a letter that resembles those spammy emails from dying African princes with millions of dollars for you if only you share your credit card)

Sebastian Peake At Quay This Friday

Wed, 17 Sep 2008 05:04:23 PDT
Tickets are still available for Sebastian Peake’s talk on Friday at Quay Arts. The subject of his talk is the fascinating life and prolific work of his late father, Mervyn Peake who died in 1968 and has been described as ’the incarnation of Renaissance man’ but is probably best known as author of the Gormenghast trilogy. The death of his mother in 1983 accelerated Sebastian into promoting his father’s whole body of work, when he began hosting regular talks with question and answer sessions.

Jumbo Houses Lead To Jumbo Foreclosure Problems

Tue, 16 Sep 2008 19:22:51 PDT
Jumbo houses are leading to jumbo sized foreclosure problems. There are still certain pockets in America that have not been mauled by the foreclosure crisis. The rolling hills in Greenwich, Connecticut is one such place. Stanley and Dorothea Cheslock made their dreams into a reality by owning a swank property here. On 26,000 square feet of land a house was built with the best available materials. Posts came from a 1760 barn, the wine room could accommodate 3,700 bottles and the base of a tabl

Learn about Racking Homemade Wine

Racking Wine...

Racking homemade wine is perhaps even more important to you than racking storebought wine for the simple reason that your time, passion, caring, and sweat went into producing your own vintage and you want to protect it and display it proudly.

There are just some things that money can't buy, and the feeling of satisfaction from making, displaying, and enjoying your own wine is one of them.

You might be tempted to construct your own wine rack by hand from sourcing materials, but this may not be the most prudent course of action unless you happen to be a really good craftsman and are adept with handling tools.

Racking homemade wine, then, should probably be best done with one of the many fantastic wine racks available on the market nowadays.

Not only are there the standard wooden ones that have timeless construction and appeal...but there are also metal ones now that have stunning artistic design and flair. You'll be awestruck at some of the wine rack designs that are now on the market. And the costs are very reasonable too.

If you live on the Westcoast, or any earthquack prone area, it's very important that racking homemade wine is a priority -- and not just any rack, but the kind that can be secured against the wall to protect your wine from the occassional minor tremor.

Drinking wine, as all wine lovers know, isn't just about the experience of drinking the wine itself....but about appreciating all of its facets -- from the way the bottle looks, to the way it smells, to the company we share it with.

You can heighten the pleasure of the wine experience by racking homemade wine in an area where your family, guests, and, of course, you, can appreciate visually.

Torciano Brunello Di Montalcino

No other Italian DOC has risen to such prominence as Brunello di Montalcino. This small Tuscan district around the hill town of Montalcino has become the darling of wine connoisseurs around the world. Here the Sangiovese Grosso yields wines with sensual aromas. The fragrances of Licorice, smoke, violets, truffles, incense, and raspberries have all been found in these wines. By law Brunello must be aged a minimum of 3 1/2 years in oak barrels. Now we are proud to add the Brunello of Tenuta Torciano to our offering. The quality of Pierluigi Giachi's wines have proven themselves over the years. This dry red wine from Italy is a great gift!
