A Guide to Wine Cellar Racks

Wine Cellar Racks
Wine Cellars and Racks for the Home

Wine cellar racks allow the wine enthusiast to have a professional looking cellar right in their own home. A wine cellar rack is most often a wall mounted or stackable wine rack unit. It can hold from 10 to 100's of bottles depending upon your individual need and with space in mind; they are also customizable. Wine cellars and racks for the home allow the individual wine lover to convert any space in their home into an instant cellar in a matter of moments.

Wine bottles need to have proper storage to ensure that the wine maintains optimal flavor and wine cellar racks provide this storage. Anyone with an interest in wine should know that the proper and more convenient way to store wine bottles is on their sides. By using a wine cellar rack, bottles either are individually or grouped together on their sides in cubicles. This arrangement is necessary for several reasons. First, by storing the bottle on its side, the sediments that settle out of the wine over time are more evenly distributed and help the wine keep most of the desired original flavor. In addition, the label and corks are better preserved.

Wine cellars and racks for the home are inexpensive. They are easy to assemble, come with detailed, easy to understand instructions, and all the necessary hardware and they are durable. They come in a wide range in size, styles, colors, and are composed of various materials. Wine cellars and racks for the home are really more convenient than just keeping those few bottles on the pantry shelf. They actually take up more space being upright, then if properly stored on their side in on of our small wine cellar racks.

Wine cellar racks are no longer just for the winery or commercial entity. Although cellar racks can easily accommodate these larger consumers, the individual wine connoisseur can also benefit from a wine cellar and rack for the home. By purchasing customizable units, cellar racks for wine can be placed in almost any location available, from that junk closet to a conventional cellar.

Penfolds St Henri Shiraz 1996

Though I've tried this several times in the last few years, I've never been fully happy with the wine or my tasting note (1,2). A cool change, T-bone steaks and the need to create some cellar space provided the perfect excuse to revisit. I still find the nose a little hard to pin down. It's not pure and yet it is not clearly tainted. Whilst it is medicinal and saddle like, it is not obviously brettanomyces affected. Good stink and earth. Plum, dried citrus peel, anise, small goods and chocolate

Karma and Kudos (formerly Cheers and Jeers)

Kudos: to my favorite barista at Peet’s downtown who always puts a heart in the foam on my latte. Karma: to the people who post smack on JuicyCampus.com. Get a life! What goes around comes around. Kudos: to Mike Shkolnik (Broccoli Man and Mad Martian) for putting on the Faux Film Festival in Portland. I went Sunday and it was a blast. Stay tuned for the fifth annual Faux Film Festival next year! Kudos: to my friend Homayoon (the owner) for being such a gracious host on Saturday night at t

Things I learned from "Dan in Real Life"

This has been floating around my head for a few weeks now. I just need to get it down. Two things happened recently that made me think about the time I spend with my family. Firstly, I watched Dan in Real Life. Secondly, a friend of mine watched her father pass away. I wanted to see Dan in Real Life when it was in the theaters but didn't, for one reason and another. I finally watched it over Spring Break at my sister-in-law's house in Kansas. It was a cute movie, a funny movie, the kind of mov

Wine Cabinets Store Vintage Potables

Gone are the days of the old dusty, sometimes musty basement wine cellar. Gone is the need to rely solely on the ambient conditions downstairs. Today, wine cabinets have replaced the venerable cellar. Like hi tech wine cellars, wine cabinets feature clean lines, energy efficiency and modern temperature controls. With exterior cabinet designs that range from the modern to the classical, wines cabinets and home bars are available that will blend in to almost any decorating scheme. The wine

Foreseeable Change

Ahh, life. It loves to just move around like the wind and change constantly. We have some things going on that are going to be for the better for us, I believe. I'll be updating but we are going out of town next week, so this will be the last post for a bit. Unless, we pick up a laptop this week. We both have desktops (P is a Mac geek, I'm the lowly PC) but we really need a computer for traveling, etc. P had his heart set on a Mac, but really, I'd probably be the main user of it and? I really o

Prescribed Change, Kibaki to be Re-sworn

Pains from the political standoff witnessed in Kenya for the last 100 days have blinded us from seeing the BEAST who plunged us into this hole in the first place. Today we are busy addressing the sideshow which is a product of another facade called peace accord. Dutiful Kenyans have all over a sudden rediscovered that the word lean is incomplete without tagging real and clean alongside it. The plastic sigh of relief when Raila announces a deal on 40-member strong cabinet is deceptive at best.
